In its second edition, i Light Marina Bay 2012 will have the entire perimeter of the already vibrant bay area of Singapore turn into a glistening arena of light art installations. Themed “Light Meets Asia”, this shimmering event will feature more than 30 innovative and environmentally sustainable installations by both local and international artists.
Yet another reason to visit the island-nation, these stunning light art installations will transform the Bay into a magical space of illumination and colour. Boasting several interactive displays as well, the festival encourages participating artists to use recyclable materials while adopting energy-efficient lighting technology to promote environmentally-responsible behaviour for a sustainable future. Even alternative forms of energy sources such as solar, kinetic or wind will be used to generate the energy needed to power the art installations.
With a full array of complementary programmes and activities such as carnivals, outdoor movie screenings, musical and dance performances, guided tours, talks and workshops, this 24-day long festival is an ideal opportunity for friends and family to enjoy the luminous Singapore skyline and serene ambience that the waterfront provides.
Singapore’s multi-racial population and the government’s initiative to build and promote the island-nation into a place of vibrant colours and exciting things to see and do; keeps it on the bucket list of most travellers who seek to visit South-East Asia for the first time. With plenty of entertainment in store, delicious food and a diverse culture, visitors to Singapore have always left with fond and unique memories, vouching to return for another whirlwind around the island.
This could be just that additional reason to revisit and explore sunny Singapore!
