Celebrate Australia Day 2015 in Newcastle

by Rosemarie John on January 19, 2015

Australia’s second oldest city, Newcastle, will be hosting its Australia Day 2015 Festival from 8am until 8pm!

The day starts with an early morning annual Australia Day Harbour Swim, followed by the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and a full day of entertainment and events along Newcastle’s iconic foreshore.

Activities include: live entertainment; circus workshops; face painting; roving bands; a Multicultural Australia Day BBQ; market stalls; the famous duck for dollars races; as well as guided tours of historical sites including Fort Scratchley – where the 6 inch guns will be fired in celebration during the day.

The action will continue into the night with a DJ entertaining the Australia Day crowds at Honeysuckle Precinct before a live screening of the 2015 Asian Cup semi-final at 8pm on our big screen set up for Newy’s summer of sports.
