Canberra’s sunny winters, Italian wines and fine food… have we got your attention? The Tastes of Two Regions will be coming to town from 11 to 13 August 2017—bringing the wine and food of two magnificent regions, King Valley and Rutherglen. Located side by side in North East Victoria, these two regions are known for innovative wine styles and excellent produce.
King Valley Prosecco Road sidles up alongside Rutherglen’s boutique Muscat and Durif cellars, in a setting of rolling hills, mountain ranges, vines, open skies and historic townships. The festival includes an exhibition with over 200 wines to taste, masterclasses, live entertainment, picnics and platters, as well as a Prosecco breakfast, Italian family lunch and an Alternative Variety dinner. View the brochure.
Rosemarie and I have been invited to try the King Valley Prosecco two-course breakfast that will take place at Pialligo Estate Farmhouse Restaurant on 13 August from 8.30 am to 9.45 am. Originating in the cool alpine climate of Veneto in north-east Italy, Prosecco is a light and lively sparkling wine with a dry finish and a fresh fruit flavour through the mid palate. King Valley is the first region to produce an Australian-made premium prosecco. Sunday breakfast in a luxurious setting… sipping on the crisp flavour of an uplifting aperitivo—ah bliss!
Will you join us at Tastes of Two Regions? If you rather sample their rich wine list from the likes of Marzemino, a spicy Italian with a hint of violets behind the summer berries to Saperavi, a Georgian variety of deep red colour, with blackberry, mulberry, and ripe cherry flavours or perhaps the Rutherglen Muscat, displaying the fresh raisin aromas, rich fruit and clean spirit—then the exhibition is where you should be. The exhibition offers a taste of over 200 wines, plus cheese, olives, chocolate and goods from 25 regional artisans. Details here.

We spent a good chunk of our honeymoon (years ago) in that area. An impressive concentration of good food and wine experiences, so it’s great to see the region’s food & wine visiting Canberra.
Great reading, Rose and Joseph. If only I drank wine to go with the great food on offer in Canberra 😃
I can already imagine myself there. Such a cool article.
